The Puddle - Closed programme for schools

Guidance to Dive into the Pictures exhibition. There are illustrations from children’s picture books in the exhibition. Registration by 25 September: karoliina.salo@vaasa.fi. Group size: about 20 children. Age recommendation: classes 1-4.

 

2.–8.10. | Filmweeks materials and filmscreening for schools | Elokuvakeskus  Botnia, Finlandssvenskt Filmcentrum, Walhalla, BARK ja Kino Ritz | Kino Ritz, Kirkkopuistikko 22 A |

The filmweek is a national, free week of film education. Schools will get information of how to take part in the Filmweek by using online-material: https://www.elokuvaviikko.fi. Age recommendation: classes 0-9.

During the Filmweek it is possible for classes 4-6 to come and see the movie Dancing Queen (2023). More information of the movie: https://www.elokuvaviikko.fi. Painting with light is a magical technique, which opens up totally new dimensions to photographing. Make a booking for your own group/class and come and explore! Age recommendation: 3-12-year-olds.

3.10., 10.10., 24.10. and 31.10. | Volcano workshop (in Finnish) | 9:00-10:00 | University of Vaasa / LUMA Centre Ostrobothnia | University of Vaasa, Technobotnia building, class TF4111, Puuvillakuja 3 |

A volcano workshop combining science and art. Children will learn about volcanoes in an age-appropriate way. After the introduction, they work in pairs to make volcanoes. Also, a chemical experiment is carried out. The reaction causes the volcano to “erupt”! Age recommendation: 5–10-year-olds. | Workshop is in Finnish. 5.10. | WILD LINES – scrapping workshop | 15:00-16:15 | Ostrobothnian Children’s Culture Network BARK & Vaasa City Museums | Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art, Sisäsatama |

The workshop is a free 75-minute workshop for primary school classes 1–6 which consists of two parts:

A GUIDANCE TO THE DIMENSIONS OF A LINE EXHIBITION (15 min). The variations of the line can be seen in the collective exhibition at the Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art.

SCRAPING WORKSHOP (approx. 60 min). Scraping is a versatile technique where the surface is scraped with different tools to create details. The scraping workshop will be led by art educator Sini Björkholm from the Ostrobothnian Children’s Culture Network BARK.

30.10. | Tones of Scare – sound workshops of scarymovies |10:00-13:00 |Film Centre Botnia, Culture and Library Services, Rockschool | Drama Hall, Main Library, Kirjastonkatu 13 |

The world of sound in the movies comes familiar in the workshop. Soundtrack of a classical horror movie scene is created in the workshop.
