Employment services

Starting 1 January 2025, the TE Offices (State Employment and Economic Development Offices) will be abolished, and their services will be transferred to municipalities. At the same time, the term ‘employment services’ will replace ‘TE services’. Employment services will become part of the City of Vaasa’s basic services, such as early childhood education and care.

What does this mean for current clients?

If you are already a client of the TE Office, you do not need to do anything, even if the service provider changes at the turn of the year. Your services will continue seamlessly. You will be able to use Job Market Finland (Työmarkkinatori) online services also in the future.

How do the new employment services work?

When looking for a job or an employee, always log in to Job Market Finland, which acts as a meeting point for jobs and job seekers. Job Market Finland is a portal for job vacancies, information on working life, and online services. When you log in to Job Market Finland, you can create a job search profile, post a job advertisement, and access other features. Job Market Finland also provides guidance on how to use the online services.

If you are using employment services for the first time, you can always turn to your local municipality for help and guidance. For more information and guidance on how to apply for a job or recruit workers, contact the City of Vaasa service point.

What are employment services?

Employment services provide advice and guidance on job search, recruitment and skills development for both individuals and businesses. With the reform of employment services and their transfer to municipalities, they will be more accessible to you and will help you find employment or workers effectively, using a wider range of methods.

In 2025, municipalities will also take over responsibility for promoting the integration of the integration clients of TE Offices. This change will enhance the employment of immigrants and clarify the responsibilities of the parties involved.

We will organize employment services in cooperation with the Ostrobothnia Employment Area, which includes the municipalities of Kaskinen, Korsnäs, Laihia, Maalahti, Mustasaari, Närpiö, Uusikaarlepyy, Vaasa, and Vöyri. The City of Vaasa is the municipality responsible for coordinating the Employment Area.

Service points

In Vaasa, Employment Services will remain at the current TE Office located in the Palosaari state office building. Without an appointment, you can access employment services not only in Vaasa but also in Närpiö, where services will continue at Närpiöntie 4. The opening hours will be updated on the municipalities’ websites at the end of the year.

Starting from 1 January 2025, you can access services  in person by appointment in Kaskinen, Korsnäs, Laihia, Maalahti, Mustasaari, Uusikaarlepyy, and Vöyri. Each municipality will have service points that operate by appointment, located in the municipalities’ own premises, such as town halls. You can request an appointment through the Employment Services.
