Vaasa - Big enough, but nice and compact

When you exit the railway station, you see a city by the sea that is full of history, feels international and is rich in culture. From the station, you can walk to the Market Square along a pedestrian street lined with restaurants.

Hanging out in parks with views of the sea

Forget about narrow patches of grass between city streets, reeking of exhaust fumes. Vaasa’s parks are sea-front zones that are several kilometres long, each with their own unique atmosphere. Grab a picnic lunch from the city centre, find a pleasant park and kick off your shoes!

Dining to the sounds of the waves

If you prefer a chair in a restaurant instead of a picnic blanket but you still want to enjoy a lovely view, try one of the city’s many seafront restaurants. There are many options ranging from a traditional yacht club to a modern urban living room.

Strömsö is real!

The idyllic villa that serves as the set of the TV show is located in Vaasa and was built in 1852. Guided tours of the villa are available, and reservations for group visits are also accepted. The area and its beach is a favorite among local residents and tourists.
