The World Heritage Gateway Visitor Centre has received STF (Sustainable Travel Finland) status
In May 2024, the World Heritage Gateway Visitor Centre, which is maintained by the Kvarken World Heritage Association, was granted the right to start using the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label of Visit Finland.
Sustainable Travel Finland is a national sustainable tourism programme managed by Visit Finland. The criteria include strategies for working with ecological, socio-cultural and economic sustainability.
The Kvarken World Heritage Association participates in the Sustainable Travel Finland network by being a socially, culturally and economically sustainable destination. The World Heritage Gateway Visitor Centre by the Replot Bridge in Korsholm has been established primarily to provide information about Finland’s only natural heritage area, the Kvarken Archipelago, on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We tell about our exciting history, our unique land uplift landscape and encourage and inform about visits to the neighbouring region. The Kvarken World Heritage Gateway is an easily accessible visitor centre, adapted to receive all kinds of visitors.
In December 2022, the association was granted the EcoCompass Environmental System Certificate for the management and development of environmental issues in accordance with the EcoCompass environmental system. Obtaining the right to use the Visit Finland STF label is the next step on the sustainable tourism path for the association.
