As the nights grow darker, we cherish memories of gentle summer nights. Lilli Paasikivi, who has a strong career as both a singer and opera director, warms the audience with Summer Nights—a series of songs full of wistful love by French composer Hector Berlioz. Ludvig van Beethoven, a role model to Berlioz, wrote the Eroica symphony as a noble heroic tale, but to Berlioz, it was a story of deep longing and sadness. The concert culminates in the spectacular melodies of this always revolutionary work.
