16.00–21.00 Video installation| Robin Lilja: CAGE | The dance in this video mixes inhuman expression with emotional gestures, while the music blends recordings of sounds processed through granular synthesis with piano, synthesizers and voice. The text in the work consists both of a thankfulness to our own body as well as the difficult feelings we may have towards it. 

The text is based on a text by Frida Lilja, and the voice is provided by Emelie Klein.

Bodies and Moments – Three perspectives to the Kuntsi Foundation Collection 

The exhibition Moments and Bodies – Three Perspectives on the Kuntsi Foundation Collection is curated by Uniarts’ Dean Leevi Haapala and Teemu Mäki, members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, and Anne-Maj Salin, Director Emerita of the Foundation.

Exhibitions:  

Who is Roger Broo? 

The collection focuses on prints and paintings and consists of around 400 works spanning the period from the 1950s to the 2010s. 

 

Memorial hall: 

The hall is dominated by bronze cast portraits of the leading figures of the White side of the Civil War, most notably Commander-in-Chief C. G. Mannerheim and State Secretary P. E. Svinhufvud. 

 

Vaasa 400: 

The Vaasa 400 exhibition takes the visitor on a journey through the 400-year history of the city of Vaasa.  

  

The renovated Hedmann floor  

The valuable and nationally significant collection of Finnish and foreign art and antiques, collected by the doctor Karl Hedman from Vaasa (1864-1931), is now on display.   

 

The Silver Room: 

Karl Hedman’s silver collection includes silver objects from Vaasa, Finland and Europe.  

 

Terranova: 

Terranova’s new natural history exhibition tells the story of the unique nature of our region, namely the Kvarken World Heritage, the ice age that shaped it and the relationship between man and marine nature.

Eastern Spirituality  

The exhibition presents the influence of ‘Eastern spirituality’ on Finnish art. The exhibition includes cultural and historical artefacts and around 100 works from the late 19th century to the present day. The exhibition is curated by Nina Kokkinen, an art and religion researcher.

Martin Palmer exhibits sculptures that create a multi-sensory experience in Platform’s own space.   

Bella Da Silva Buxbon exhibits an interactive sculpture depicting a throne where the visitor can experience ‘momentary royalty’ by interacting with the sculpture. The sculpture is exhibited in an avenue on the nearby esplanade.

An improvised play for the whole evening. Everything happens in an instant and nothing is pre-arranged. Each performance is a new premiere. Intopiukeet brings actors, a musician and a technician on stage to improvise the whole evening’s play without a script, based only on suggestions from the audience. Intopiukeet will bring tears to the audience’s eyes from laughter or emotion. “Pitkäastä aikaa” was performed for six performances in the spring of 2024.

17.30–19.00 Ethene | Interested in the alliance between writing, art and science? What kind of poetry can you write about science? Well, all kinds of poetry, of course! Come and experience what it’s like to be a poet – a science poet or a free artist!   

The workshop is for anyone who is passionate about creativity and writing. Come and join us for a workshop of words, action and excitement. There will be a bit of poetry school, poetry writing and poetry recitation, and you will also get to sign your own output!   

The workshop will be led by entrepreneur-poet Heli Katajamäki. Ethene published a collection of poetry poems in February 2024, which is unique in Finland. The Tiederunoja work brought a new text genre to the book market and gave rise to the idea for this event. Ethene’s products will also be on display at the event.

16.00─19.00 Vaasa Rudolf Steiner –school | Welcome to a watercolour painting workshop organized by Vaasa Rudolf Steiner School as part of the Vaasa Night of the Arts! In this workshop you can try the fun and simple “wet on wet” technique, where watercolour paper is first moistened with water and then painted on a wet surface. This creative technique allows you to create beautiful and unique patterns as water and paint play together. Feel free to experiment with different colour combinations and let your imagination fly!

Stormøgha is a restoration of Heimløsa Rus, which was built in Replot in the 1990s and sailed around Europe and Russia for a few years. Who is Roger Broo? 

The collection focuses on prints and paintings and consists of around 400 works spanning the period from the 1950s to the 2010s. 

 

Memorial hall: 

The hall is dominated by bronze cast portraits of the leading figures of the White side of the Civil War, most notably Commander-in-Chief C. G. Mannerheim and State Secretary P. E. Svinhufvud. 

 

Vaasa 400: 

The Vaasa 400 exhibition takes the visitor on a journey through the 400-year history of the city of Vaasa.  

The renovated Hedmann floor  

The valuable and nationally significant collection of Finnish and foreign art and antiques, collected by the doctor Karl Hedman from Vaasa (1864-1931), is now on display.   

 

The Silver Room: 

Karl Hedman’s silver collection includes silver objects from Vaasa, Finland and Europe. 

Terranova: 

Terranova’s new natural history exhibition tells the story of the unique nature of our region, namely the Kvarken World Heritage, the ice age that shaped it and the relationship between man and marine nature.

17.30–19.00 Ethene | Interested in the alliance between writing, art and science? What kind of poetry can you write about science? Well, all kinds of poetry, of course! Come and experience what it’s like to be a poet – a science poet or a free artist!   

The workshop is for anyone who is passionate about creativity and writing. Come and join us for a workshop of words, action and excitement. There will be a bit of poetry school, poetry writing and poetry recitation, and you will also get to sign your own output!   

The workshop will be led by entrepreneur-poet Heli Katajamäki. Ethene published a collection of poetry poems in February 2024, which is unique in Finland. The Tiederunoja work brought a new text genre to the book market and gave rise to the idea for this event. Ethene’s products will also be on display at the event.

In this workshop you can try the fun and simple “wet on wet” technique, where watercolour paper is first moistened with water and then painted on a wet surface. This creative technique allows you to create beautiful and unique patterns as water and paint play together. Feel free to experiment with different colour combinations and let your imagination fly!
