Vaasan pyöräilyallianssi KV-0

The joint alliance between ja city of Vaasa, GRK and Sitowise has been selected as the service provider for the Vaasa cycling promotion project. The cycling project will last until 2029, and during that time, it is planned to implement a 50-kilometer cycling bana network for walking and cycling in Vaasa, as well as other bike paths with accompanying services. The total cost of the project is determined during the annual development phases, and the target size range is around 30–50 million euros.

The city of Vaasa’s goal is to be carbon neutral by the end of the 2020s. Traffic is already a major source of emissions, and efforts are being made to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions caused by it by, for example, increasing cycling and walking.

The Urban Environment Board chose the Pyörällä päästään alliance group, which includes GRK Suomi Oy and Sitowise Oyj, as the implementer of the cycling project. During the project, approximately 50 kilometers of high-quality walking and cycling paths will be built in Vaasa, which will connect different parts of the city to the center.

The alliance is responsible for all tasks related to the development of cycling, i.e. design, construction, maintenance, marketing and development. The municipality of Mustasaari and the ELY center are part of the alliance as options, which means that the alliance can also implement other subscribers’ own or joint cycling projects in the Vaasa region.

In the alliance model, the procurement decision is followed by the development and implementation phase of the first year and the maintenance phase for the entire contract. The development phase will begin in January 2023 and the actual construction work will begin in the center of Vaasa during the summer of 2023.
