KUHA - Kuormitus haltuun - Vaasan keskusta-alueen kaupunkivesien hallintasuunnitelma

The pollution under control – management plan for urban water in central Vaasa (KUHA) – project is carried out in cooperation with Vaasa Public Utility Services and Vaasan Vesi. An urban water management plan will be made for the downtown area of Vaasa to reduce the environmental and water pollution of sewer overflows caused by stormwater and heavy rains. In the management plan, the focus is on an analysis of the local starting situation, including survey work of the sewer and stormwater networks and an evaluation of the pollution formation. By combining models of the wastewater and stormwater networks, a new combination model is developed. The combination model enables analysis of pollutant load formation in different scenarios. The objectives of the management plan and the measures required are defined based on the assessment of the risks of sewage overflow and the resulting environmental and water pollution.
