Promoting sustainable mobility requires a comprehensive understanding of the transportation infrastructure and people’s mobility needs. People’s values influence how these needs are translated into practical choices. In the project, a method is developed to assess and anticipate the potential impact of various mobility management and transport system development measures. Additionally, a resident survey tied to the Mobility Week and a user survey for the city’s shared car, Mini-Lifti, are conducted.
The work evaluates the impact of Vaasa’s sustainable mobility program measures. Based on the results, the content and communication of measures not yet implemented can be refined to maximize effectiveness. The project’s findings – the significance of values in decision-making – can be widely transferred to other transportation planning and especially to the promotion of mobility management. The project is carried out in Vaasa in 2023.
The City of Vaasa acts as the owner of the project, communicator, and collaborates with stakeholders. Ramboll handles the practical implementation of the project, traffic modeling (Vaasa region’s climate management tool), and impact assessment. Taloustutkimus (Economic Research) offers a value-based segment model (Insight 360) and information on consumer behavior. Taloustutkimus is responsible for the design and execution of the surveys.
