Vaasa Museums are offering free admission days as a Christmas gift

As a Christmas gift to residents, Vaasa Museums are offering free admission to their exhibitions from Wednesday to Sunday, 18–22 December 2024, along with other special holiday programme. During the Christmas period, the museums will have special opening hours.

Exhibitions on display:

Special opening hours at the museums over Christmas:

  • Mon 23 Dec. to Thu 26 Dec. Christmas, museums are closed
  • Fri 27 Dec. The Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art and the Tikanoja Art Museum are open. The Ostrobothnian Museum is closed
  • from Sat 28 Dec. to Sun 29 Dec. The Tikanoja Art Museum is open. The Ostrobothnian Museum and the Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art are closed
  • Wed 1 Jan. the museums are closed.

At other times, the museums are open according to their regular opening hours. Admission to the museums is free during the week leading up to Christmas Eve, from Wednesday to Sunday, 18–22 December 2024. From January, the Ostrobothnian Museum will be open on Sundays, but the Tikanoja Art Museum and Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art will be closed.

Concerts at the Tikanoja Art Museum

During the Christmas holidays, the Tikanoja Art Museum will host three ‘Year-End Music Salon’ concerts by the Vaasa Chamber Musicians. The concerts will be on Friday, 27 Dec. at 15 as well as Saturday 28 Dec. at 13  and 15. Violinist Maano Männis will perform with one of Finland’s most talented harpists, Lily-Marlene Puusepp. The concert will combine the paintings by enjoy Eero Järnefelt and music by his contemporaries, including Saint-Saëns, Debussy, Armas Järnefelt, and Sibelius.

Tickets for the concerts are available at https://www.netticket.fi/vuodenlopun-musiikkisalonki. The regular ticket price is 25€, while the price for students is 15€. Holders of the Museum Card are eligible for a 20% discount on tickets.

Christmas presents and intangible gift ideas from the museum shops

The Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art, the Ostrobothnian Museum, and the Tikanoja Art Museum all feature museum shops filled with interesting finds. The shops offer items such as posters, toys, textiles, items related to local history, Ostrobothnian handicrafts, and other Finnish design.

Intangible gifts are also available. The Museum Card will bring joy all year round; they are available as a gift for yourself or someone else at the Vaasa museum locations. Additionally, the Visit Vaasa online store sells museum admission tickets as gift vouchers. A cultural experience given as a gift is a low-threshold, intangible Christmas present.
