Vaasa libraries closed from 22 May to 6 June due to introduction of new system
Published: 15.5.2023
The comprehensive system used by Vaasa City Library to manage materials, loans and customer information is changing, which is why the main library and nearby libraries will be closed from 22 May to 6 June, 2023. During that time, you cannot use the online library and the library car Rölli will not be in operation.
Branch libraries and the online library will be closed on Monday, 22 May and will be reopened no later than Thursday 8 June, when the library will also switch to summertime opening hours. Some of the locations will already open the day before to test the functioning of the new system.
Please note that during the closure it is not possible to:
- borrow books,
- renew loans,
- make reservations,
- visit the library or a self-service library (note! The main library’s News area, i.e. the magazine reading room, is open Mon – Fri from 09:00 to 16:00)
- use the online library.
The library advises that it is important to pick up reading material in good time before the closure and at the same time return or renew the loans you currently have. However, the loans do not go overdue during the closure and the return slots are open.
Online library also changing – borrowing history is saved
With the new system, the current online library will also change.
– On the library’s website, you can find instructions on how to retrieve the online library’s borrowing history and favourite lists, says interim service manager Minna Rinta-Valkama.
Reservations that have been put on hold before the closure time will also be on hold after the closure. Breaks that are set to start after the closure period starts will disappear when the system is changed.
