Published: 24.1.2025

The closure of TE Offices and the transfer of employment services to municipal responsibility, implemented at the beginning of 2025, has proceeded smoothly in Ostrobothnia. The City of Vaasa responsible for coordinating the services in the area.

Given the scope of this change, not everything has been finalised yet. Work on the reform continues in municipalities and Employment Services.

The launch of the employment services has proceeded as expected, but there is still room for development

Although the transition phase has been successful without major disruptions, the goal in Ostrobothnia Employment Services is clear: to continually develop services to better meet the needs of both job seekers and employers. Client meetings have been ongoing since the turn of the year, and some services, such as integration training, began already in January. Other services, such as career coaching, are currently being launched. Improvements will continue throughout the year, driven by client feedback and service development.

Juha Nummela, Director of Employment Services for the Ostrobothnia Employment Services, on the transition: ‘The transfer of employment services to municipalities has been a major change, but we have prepared for it with long-term planning. The smooth start is the result of close collaboration between municipalities and other stakeholders. This is just the beginning – our task now is to ensure that every job seeker and employer can easily access our services and receive the support they need.’

Services are provided and tailored locally

The new operating model brings employment services directly to municipalities. This allows services to be adapted to better meet regional needs. Ostrobothnia Employment Services assist job seekers in their job search, help them develop their skills, and support companies with their recruitment needs.
