The summer promenade opens again

The summer promenade at the city centre has received positive feedback from both entrepreneurs and customers over the years, and it will soon be opened again for the upcoming summer. It will be situated at the familiar location, stretching along Hovioikeudenpuistikko between Kirkkopuistikko and Raastuvankatu.
The summer promenade opens on Wednesday 30 April and will remain open until 15 September. The street has already been closed to traffic from Monday 28 April, when the preparations for building the terraces started.
As last year, the north side of Hovioikeudenpuistikko will be closed to drive-through traffic between Raastuvankatu and Kirkkopuistikko. The traffic lights will be disabled and the crossing over Raastuvankatu will be marked to the full width of the summer promenade.
Service vehicles and residents of the apartments in the area can access the lots on the Kirkkopuistikko side. Due to the arrangements, also eight paid parking spaces and a few time-limited parking spaces will be temporarily removed from the area. Time-limited parking and a stopping place for transport vehicles will be added on the southern side of Hovioikeudenpuistikko.
The summer promedade will also bring the same changes to public transport as in previous years. Bus routes from Raastuvankatu to Kirkkopuistikko will be re-routed via Hietasaarenkatu. The bus stop at the Hovioikeudenpuistikko will be closed for the summer.
Traffic arrangements will return to normal September 16.
