The City of Vaasa has awarded cultural grants for 2025

Published: 28.1.2025

The City of Vaasa’s Culture Section has awarded the cultural grants for 2025. Targeted grants and operating grants are awarded annually to various actors.

This year, the Culture Section allocated €190,700 in cultural grants. Over €20,000 in rent subsidies for the use of Funkkis premises were also distributed to artists and associations.

– The primary focus of the grants is clearly on operating grants awarded to associations, to support diverse cultural activity in the city, says Sanna Bondas, Director of Culture and Library Services.

Targeted grants will be awarded to various actors for individual projects, while operating grants are intended to support the regular activities of arts and cultural associations. Compared to the previous year, the number of applicants increased slightly.

– Targeted grants were awarded for organising concerts in nursing homes in Vaasa, supporting the work of professional artists, and organising the Palosaari Carnival, says Bondas.

A total of 71 grant applications were received, of which 36 were for targeted grants and 35 for one-year operating grants. The three-year operating grant for two organisations was extended for the second year. The total amount requested was €335,377. The grants were available for application throughout November 2024 via an electronic application system.
