Happy Valentine’s Day! Valentine’s Day, or Friendship Day as we Finns call it, is the perfect occasion to celebrate friendship, to make new acquaintances and take a moment to catch up. Today is a great day to challenge yourself to speak to someone you don’t know and spread some joy!
Even a brief encounter with someone you don’t know can bring joy and may lead to new acquaintances and friendships. Small deeds can make a big impact – both for yourself and for others. So take on the challenge and spread some joy!
Here are a few tips
Smile at a passerby.
Ask a colleague how they’re doing.
Compliment people you know and those you don’t.
Start a conversation.
Reach out to a friend from way back. Visit places where you can meet new people – check out the meeting places and friendship activities here.
The ‘Talk to Someone New’ campaign encourages new encounters
The City of Vaasa is running the ‘Talk to Someone New’ campaign, which aims to create feel-good encounters and, through these, increase happiness.
We have marked designated ‘Talk to Someone New’ spots throughout the city, where you can experience meaningful encounters. Why not sit down at the ‘Talk to Someone New’ campaign corner in Café Proosa, at the main library? In the library’s downstairs lobby, there is also a display of books about friendship, available throughout February.
