Published: 7.3.2025
The ‘What does the forest photo communicate, Ostrobothnia?’ photography event will be held on Saturday, 15 March, starting at 15 in the auditorium of the Ostrobothnian Museum. The event will feature award-winning photographic artists Ritva Kovalainen and Sanni Seppo, who will discuss and analyse photographs of Ostrobothnian forests.
In the What does the forest photo communicate, Ostrobothnia? event, photographers Ritva Kovalainen and Sanni Seppo will analyse forest-themed photographs taken in the Vaasa and Ostrobothnia regions. The public was invited to submit their photographs to the artists until the end of February.
The event is part of the Ostrobothnia Museum’s Forests of the North Wind exhibition, which marks the final part of Kovalainen and Seppo’s forest-themed photography and research trilogy.
– The idea was for the photographs submitted to the artists to highlight the state of the forests, their history of use, and their biodiversity. The analysis of the photographs will also explore aesthetic and artistic perspectives, says Noora Lehtovuori, Museum Curator, who contributed to the exhibition.
The exhibition showcases our natural forests as diverse, life-sustaining environments. It highlights the current state of forests, the challenges they face, and the endangerment and loss of forest ecosystems.
Entry to the event is included in the museum’s admission fee. The event will be held in three languages (Finnish/Swedish/English), with Finnish as the main language.
The Forests of the North Wind exhibition will run at the Ostrobothnian Museum until 27 April 2025.
