Local traffic routes will be reduced during the ski holiday week
Published: 17.2.2021
Vaasa’s public transport routes will be reduced during the ski holiday week from 1 March to 7 March 2021. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, passenger numbers on public transport last year have been about 40% lower compared to 2019. Normally, during school holidays, the number of passengers decreases further.
The change applies to routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Routes 7 and 9 will travel through Tammikartano during this period. The schedules and routes for the ski holiday week can be found here.
In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infections, Wasa Citybus Oy operates in accordance with THL’s instructions, and drivers are quickly quarantined if they have been exposed. As a result, the workload among the employees has been heavy.
In these exceptional circumstances, many drivers have not had time to take their holidays and their ability to handle winter traffic timetables has been extremely difficult. The aim of moving to a reduced schedule for one week is to alleviate the overtime burden on drivers caused by the pandemic, and to ensure that the level of basic service in public transport will be available to meet future demand.
