Distribution of food continued
The distribution of food aid was temporarily interrupted because a large number of the association’s volunteers belong to a coronavirus risk group and there were no longer enough helping hands. The association also had a problem with the facilities.
Tiina Keho from Vaasa felt that the distribution of food aid should not end.
– Together with my friends, we decided to get more volunteers to keep the association going, and here we were successful. The people of Vaasa came to help, Keho rejoices.
The City of Vaasa helped with the facilities
The City of Vaasa also came to the rescue with the facilities.
– The old Steiner School is empty and has enough cold storage space for food. The actual distribution of the food is done outside, which minimises the risk of coronavirus infection, says Head of Real Estate at the City of Vaasa, Tapio Ollikainen.
– We hope that those who are collecting food will consider the necessary safe distances to keep when queuing because of the risk of infection. Because of the coronavirus, we also pack the food bags ready, as it’s no longer possible to choose the products like before, says Keho.
