EnergyVaasa participates in international exchange program in the USA

Published: 23.10.2024

EnergyVaasa cluster's Communications & Brand Manager Kristoffer Jansson has been selected to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) “Renewable Energy as an Economic Driver II” in the United States in November. IVLP is one of the U.S. Department of State's premier exchange programmes and the nomination represents a unique opportunity to establish long-lasting connections with American operators in the energy industry.

The professional exchange programme runs from 2 to 23 November 2024 and it examines how sustainable energy development fosters global political stability and prosperity. During the exchange, participants will meet government and industry leaders in several U.S. states.

– The United States is an important trading partner for EnergyVaasa’s cluster companies and many already have operations in the country. The goal of the trip is to establish new contacts in the United States that promote the energy cluster and invite them to EnergyWeek 2025, where they can continue discussions directly with businesses in the region. In addition, I get to network with industry colleagues from over twenty other countries who also participate in the programme, highlights Jansson.

The U.S. Embassy in Helsinki describes the IVLP programmes as an opportunity for emerging leaders in a variety of fields to experience the United States up close and cultivate lasting relationships with American counterparts. The Embassy comments on Jansson’s nomination as follows:

“Kristoffer Jansson, who has deep knowledge about the clean and green energy industry in Finland and experience working with the government and private sector, will strengthen bilateral cooperation between the United States and Finland in the energy sector – particularly in renewable energies, smart energy, gas energy, and energy storage – and foster closer transatlantic economic connection and collaboration.”

The programme starts in Washington D.C. with an overview of the state of renewable energy in the United States and an insight into how the government supports growth in the green economy. The journey will then continue to Raleigh, Charlotte, Salt Lake City, and finally to New Orleans. During the trip, participants will learn about successful examples of innovations and investments in energy technology, renewable energy, power grids, and energy efficiency. The programme also highlights the role of universities and think tanks in the development of new technologies.
