City’s summer job application attracted attention in Vaasa: more applicants than the year before
Published: 8.3.2024
The summer job application period for Vaasa City ended on March 3 and received a total of 2178 applications. This showed an almost 13 percent increase from the previous year! This year, there were approximately 55 different job positions available, offering a total of 450 summer jobs.
Applications for summer jobs were received in five different age groups: 14–15-year-olds, 16–17-year-olds, 18–29-year-olds, university students, and disabled and special-needs youth.
– The number of applicants increased across the age groups. This is nice, as our goal is to ensure that as many young people as possible find a suitable summer job, says Anne Lindell, recruitment coordinator.
The most popular summer job positions included assistant in daycare (639 applicants), assistant park worker (385 applicants), assistant instructor (children’s art and sports camps, 160 applicants), care assistant (Helppari activities and elderly care assistant activities, 132 applicants), and office intern (112 applicants).
– We will inform those who have secured a summer job of the selection by March 28. Additionally, applicants who were not offered a summer job will be notified of the decision via email by April 15, Lindell states.
Vaasa City is one of the major employers in the region and provides summer jobs, temporary positions, internship opportunities, and Summer Job Vouchers for hundreds of young people and students every year. The biggest employers within the city organization are daycares, green areas, libraries, and museums.
