Art project - What Is Left In the Temple of Memory
Published: 9.4.2025
“Would ask the walls if I could . Mirroring through the glimmers . Lay in the middle of the door
But I do not speak there yet . Whispers are barely heard . Maybe you can tell for this time, for now”
Artists Valentina Gelain and Bekim Hasaj invite the community to take part in their current art project “What is left in the Temple of Memory” which focuses on topics related to memory and time.
If you have a disused house or building of which you would like to share stories and memories, the artists warmly invite you to take part in open dialogue interviews which, together with other documentary material, will become part of the art project archive.
Here you can find the project webpage >https://www.blackboxgenesis.com/current/what-is-left-temple-of-memory and the complete Call published by the Vaasa Museums > https://www.vaasa.fi/en/news/do-you-have-access-to-an-abandoned-house-then-you-can-participate-in-an-artistic-archive-project/

The archive in question is part of the project’s research, while the end result focuses on the creation of visual and installation art by the duo in collaboration with colleagues.
The artists are also looking for a house where they can implement the artwork “The Hidden Spots” and organise a public event.
If you have a disused house in the southern part of Ostrobothnia that you would like to make available, please contact Valentina +358 452596546. Compensation is provided for the use of the premises.

Further, in order to involve the public even more, Valentina and Bekim are circulating a question to participate in the video artwork as part of the project “What is left in the Temple of Memory”:
If you have to choose an object and a situation, what would you identify “memory” and “time” with?
The answer is subjective and can also be related to personal memories. If you like to share your thoughts, please write an email to team@blackboxgenesis.com or a message to Valentina +358 452596546.
Thank you!
