Published: 11.1.2024
Gutsulia, a Ukrainian dance and singing group that has toured the world for decades, will perform in Vaasa on the first Sunday of February. The concert will give people in Vaasa the chance to enjoy a unique cultural experience and at the same time do a good deed, as all profits from the tickets will be donated to charity for the benefit of Ukrainians.
The Ukrainian dance and singing group Gutsulia was founded in 1939 and has performed more than 12 000 times worldwide. Gutsulia’s repertoire covers Ukrainian folk dances from different regions, bringing to life the country’s diverse culture. The show features virtuoso dancing, tricks, the stunning vocals of singer Larysa Borysenko, and the splendour of the artists’ costumes. There are 9 artists in total on the group’s Finnish tour.
Community support for Ukraine
Gutsulia’s Finnish tour is coordinated by the International Ukrainian Cultural Centre, founded in Tampere in 1998. The International Ukrainian Cultural Centre is dedicated to promoting Ukrainian culture and introducing Finns to the history, traditions, culture, and arts of Ukraine.
The concert will start at 19.00 at the City Hall and will last about two hours (two 40-minute sections and an intermission). Tickets are on sale at Netticket and Studio Ticket at the Rewell shopping centre. Tickets are €20, or €15 for pensioners, students and the unemployed.
The Kalyna Association supports and promotes Ukrainian culture and traditions and coordinates charitable work of the concert. It seeks to increase cooperation between Finland, Ukraine, and their citizens. The association provides aid to war-torn Ukraine and helps Ukrainians who have fled the war and arrived in Finland.
