School of Rock
At Rokkikoulu (School of Rock), people aged 13–17 in Vaasa play and learn all about pop and rock music in different styles.
Rokkikoulu has instruments for the players to borrow, so you do not necessarily need your own to participate in activities. The school also has its own studio for recording and making music videos.
We offer teaching in various genres and styles of rock and pop music for individuals and groups. We focus on the essentials and take into account the individual desires and goals of each young person. The atmosphere at Rokkikoulu is relaxed and enjoyable. Rokkikoulu is operated by Vaasa City Youth Services, and its facilities are located at Rockwerstas in Klemettilä, Vaasa.
Music Education at School of Rock includes
- Band lessons: Instrument guidance is included. Instrument options include guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards.
- Private lessons: Instrument guidance is included. Instrument options include guitar, drums, and bass.
- Recording or songwriting courses: Takes place in a studio. Teaching also pays attention to composing, arranging, performing, and artist image.
Private lessons:
- 35 minutes per session
- Lessons are given Monday to Thursday from 15:00 to 17:00
Band coaching:
- 2 hours per session
- Monday to Thursday from 15:00 to 17:00
In addition to teaching, School of Rock also organises various musical events, including Spring Hubbub (Keväthäslinki) and Christmas Jumble (Jouluhässäkkä).
Pricelist
- Participation fee for band lessons: €12 per person per semester
- Private lessons (minimum of 12 x 35 minutes in the autumn semester, minimum of 15 x 35 minutes in the spring semester):
- Level I (beginner level) €45
- Level II (intermediate level) €161
- Level III (advanced level) €383

Private lessons are currently full for guitar, bass and drums!
You can register for Rokkikoulu throughout the year. If all teaching places are full, you can also join the waiting list. Please contact us by email at rokkikoulu(at)vaasa.fi if you would like to inquire about open positions.
Registration is done via the City of Vaasa’s electronic service (available in Finnish and Swedish)
- Log in to the electronic service with your online banking credentials.
- Only a guardian can register an underage young person for Rokkikoulu.
- Select the type of teaching you want to participate in during registration.
- Also fill out the consent form.
- Fill in both the participant’s and guardian’s details carefully for billing purposes.
