In the craft courses, you learn to craft and to express yourself creatively. Problem-solving ability is also improved. You can study both traditional methods and new techniques and learn to use modern tools, methods and materials as well as to apply what has been learnt in many ways in different situations.

Alma offers both craft courses lasting throughout the year as well as shorter themed courses. Teaching is given in both Finnish and Swedish and bilingual courses are also included. Courses are arranged in Vaasa, Vähäkyrö, Isokyrö and Laihia.

Basic art education in textile arts for adults

Basic art education in textile arts is a long-term process of developing one’s own craft expression. It is a study programme aimed at adults, based on the national curriculum for visual arts education. The total scope of the curriculum is 500 teaching hours (th), of which 300 hours are dedicated to common studies and 200 hours to thematic studies.

Basic art education in textile arts for adults emphasises the awareness and expression of individually meaningful life content through visual means. The study approach is investigative, experiential, and experimental. The goal is to achieve individual expression in textile arts.

  • The new KO-KE-VA period begins in autumn 2023.
  • KO-KE-VA means goal-oriented craft hobbies aimed at adults.
  • KO-KE-VA is a three-year study programme.
  • KO-KE-VA is based on the national curriculum for visual arts education.
  • KO-KE-VA introduces students to various craft techniques.
  • KO-KE-VA studies can be used as vocational continuing education, or when applying for studies in the craft field.
