Isolahden koulu
Isolahti School in Vaasa offers general education and special education classrooms.
General education is provided in grades 1–6. Special education classes (labelled with er) are in grades 1–6. Classes for demanding special support (labelled with ver) are in grades 1–9. The school has a long tradition of teaching demanding special support classes and a few years’ experience of teaching other special education classes.
Isolahti School is a workplace for about 330 children and 80 adults. More than half of the staff are classroom assistants, who are a vital resource in supporting pupils.
The school was renovated progressively between 2007 and 2012. The number of pupils is growing, creating a need for more space. In 2023, a study of spatial needs will be carried out to build a new school building on the school site. In autumn 2023, the acute, rapidly growing need for space will be met by a four-classroom box unit.
The school site is an excellent location for physical activities. We have an artificial grass pitch, play areas, and a basketball court which is used for skating in winter. Our sports hall is one of the largest in the city. Like many other schools, we are a School on the Move with a long recess from 9.30 to 10.00.
Isolahti School does not have a special curriculum focusing on a special area of education, but in the academic years 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 we will focus on digital literacy as guided by the new curriculum.
At all times we teach our values of respect for others, responsibility, and entrepreneurship. The motto of our Code of Conduct is: “Always be in the right place at the right time and do the right things!”
