Imagine a living room where cultures meet, stories are told, and everyone contributes to the soundtrack. That’s what Musical Living Room is all about! This is an open invitation to play, sing, dance, and socialize with people from all walks of life. Share your musical traditions and discover the beauty of others’—all while building a community that thrives on inclusion and creativity.
We gather and make music together, primarily by ear. We invite everyone interested, regardless of musical background or experience – all instruments are welcome. The focus of the group will be traditional music, and participants are encouraged to share their musical traditions. We aim to create a low-threshold environment for participation – it’s perfectly fine to drum on the table, dance, sing or simply listen. Participants can choose to play only, to listen, teach, or engage in discussions about music. In short – it’s a living room where we connect through music.
If someone wishes to join and play, they should be comfortable interacting with their instrument, as direct instrumental instruction will not be provided. We have conducted some preliminary tests, and it’s possible to introduce “your music” by repeating it several times yourself, or by using sheet music or through recordings, such as YouTube videos.
The activity is part of the project ICH North – Passing on Our Musical Heritage. Please contact KulturÖsterbotten for further information!
