Lecture on Nenets culture Feb 11th, at 6 PM in the Arctic Museum Nanoq
The word ”Nenets” translates to ”true people”. What is the relationship between Nenets and ethnographic museums today?
Syanda Yaptik is an artist and researcher of Nenets origin, who was born in Yamal. S/he involves personal and collective practices in her/is work, documenting them through photography and video. Turning daily routines upside down, s/he is shifting the meaning of everyday practices.
Yaptik will shed a light on the life of Nenets in Yamal through her/is works. S/he will also share a story about her/is research of Nenets artifacts in European museums. The lecture is in English.
