Jorma Panula MINIKAPU Junior Conducting Competition 4 - 7.9.2024

Maestro Jorma Panula is introducing this new competition for young students in Finland to secure the interest in conducting. The competition is arranged for the first time in Vaasa, Finland and runs alongside the 9th Jorma Panula International Conducting Competition. The competition will hopefully increase the interest in conducting as a musical profession. The juniors will already, by participating, increase their visibility and hopefully find new open musical doors. The audience can follow the competition every day starting from 5.9. from the first round. Competition orchestra is Wasa Sinfonietta and 7 young talented conducting students under 20 years are competing. The jury consists of Maestro and chairman Atso Almila, conductors Jukka Iisakkila and Ville Mankkinen. The music to conduct comes from Jeans Sibelius, Pelléas & Mèlisande and W.A. Mozart´s Symphony Ni 36 in C, first movement.
