One of the most prestigious conducting competitions in Europe, The Jorma Panula International Conducting Competition will be held for the ninth time in Vaasa on 4-8 September 2024. Over 150 applicants from all over Europe have applied for the competition, which is held over four days. 20 contestants have been selected by a video jury led by conducting legend Maestro Jorma Panula. An international jury of five will gather in Vaasa during the week of the competition to choose the best conductor among the 20 contestants in the finale on Saturday 7 September. The Finale concludes the competition, which can be followed live in the City Hall with soloist violinist Tami Pohjola in Jean Sibelius’ great Violin concerto in D minor, Op. 47. The audience is welcome to follow the competition every day in Vaasa City Hall.
