Enjoy a free bowl of soup and listen to the artist talk by artist Itala Aguilera (MEX)

The Platform association invites the public to eat soup together while listening to an artist talk by artist Itala Aguilera.

Aguilera will be in residence at Platform from the beginning of October.

”Itala Aguilera (b. Mexico City, 1996) is a textile artist and designer from Mexico City, currently based in New York City. Itala started working in costume design while still in college, and has designed costumes for independent theater and film, as well as for TV. Their visual artwork focuses on slow, handmade techniques like knit and ceramics, using repurposed second hand materials; and their conceptual process is often based on dreams or the exploration of the unconscious mind.

Her visual artwork has been shown in art spaces such as Zona Maco, El Arenero and Islera in Mexico, Flux Factory in New York, and Carnation Contemporary in Portland. Her artwork has also been featured in fashion and art publications such as New York Textile Month’s Talking Textiles, ELLE, Purple Magazine. In 2021 Itala worked at Atelier Caraco, in Paris, as assistant dressmaker in a project for the Dior Museum. That same year, Itala was also awarded a month-long residency at Flux Factory on Governors Island, at the end of which she opened her solo installation “Mamacita Kitchen” and was part of New York Textile Month.”
